Tips on Choosing a Topic for Your Blog

The last time you attempted writing your first blog your mind wandered and you failed to narrow down on the topic for your blog and you left the idea of writing. This time you are determined and decide on writing a very interesting and involving blog. You think very hard but find that your mind has gone blank and your pen does not seem move an inch on the paper!

You will also wish to write a blog that should rank high in Google search results you need to consider many things while writing such as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). If you start worrying about SEO even before you have written your article then your writing effort will become even tougher like eating an iron peanut.

You may face all such mind blocks when you try to write a blog, an article, or a small story. This is natural as you may be just a beginner, but it is the same with experienced writers as well. Dreaming a thing or imagining about something is different from putting all your dreams on a paper.

Learn to focus

For a while just keep all such things aside as you need a clear and calm mind to start writing on any topic. First thing every writer should learn to do is 'to focus.' You need to focus on your ideas without becoming self-conscious, lay out your plan and start writing within that framework. Another thing that keeps us from focusing is 'fear' – the fear of writing.

Fear of grammar

It seems that many have this fear of writing problem. If you think of your school days you may recall a day on which you were found guilty of not using your punctuation's properly by your English teacher. You might even have lost grades just because of those small characters! Yes. Using a correct grammar in your writings is very essential, which shows that you have knowledge about the language in which you are writing.

Just take a deep breath and relax. Mistakes do happen when you or anyone else is writing. But after you bring out all your ideas on to the paper then you can go through what you have written and find out if something is amiss in your grammar usage. Reading your article twice or thrice to find out errors does not make you less informed. Just do it and remove flaws out of your article.

Write on something that interests you !

Now comes your main hurdle – choosing the topic for your article. For this you just need to list out things that interest you such as collecting stamps, touring places, gardening, painting, so on. Choose the one that drives you the most and start writing on that. It will be easier for you to write about a topic on your own or do some research in Google to find sources that are relevant to that topic. Do not worry about whether your blog will draw the traffic or not. If there is someone in the world who shares the same interests as that of you, he or she will definitely find your blog in the search results. Lastly, do remember to use the keywords that are relevant to the topic.
